Creating a MasterID account takes a few minutes. You'll need a valid email address and some basic personal and business information.
Step 1: Go to the Sign-Up Page
Visit masterid.me and click Create Account. The registration form asks for:
Full Name — your legal name as it appears on your ID
Email Address — used to sign in and receive notifications
Username — must be 6–12 characters, letters and numbers only (e.g. johndoe123)
Password — create a secure password to protect your account
Your username must be 6–12 characters and can only contain letters and numbers. You cannot use spaces or special characters.
Step 2: Verify Your Email
After submitting the form, MasterID sends a 6-digit verification code to your email address. Enter all 6 digits on the verification screen and click Verify. The code expires after a short time — if it doesn't arrive, click Resend code (available after a 30-second countdown). If the email code doesn't work, tap Try another way for alternative verification options.
Step 3: Choose Your Account Type
After verification, you'll choose between two account types:
Express — best for businesses that want to get started quickly with a standard, guided verification setup. No technical integration required.
Advanced — for developers and businesses that need full API access, webhook configuration, and custom integration options.
You can switch between Express and Advanced at any time from Account Settings.
Step 4: Complete Your Business Profile
You'll be asked to provide your business details, including your business name, address, and registration number, as well as personal information (full name, National ID Number, date of birth, and phone number). These details are used to verify that you are a legitimate business operating in Uganda.
Signing In Later
To sign back in, go to masterid.me and enter your username or email and your password. You can also use Continue with ID for biometric sign-in if your device supports it. If you use the ID-based sign-in flow, you'll enter your User ID (format: MID-XXXXXXXX), email address, and password.
If you forget your password, click Forgot password? on the sign-in screen to start a reset.
