An email alias is an extra address that delivers mail into an existing UGMail mailbox. For example, you can add [email protected], [email protected], and [email protected] to your personal mailbox and read everything in one inbox — no extra login, storage, or fees.
What Is an Email Alias?
An alias is a virtual address with no separate inbox. Mail sent to the alias is delivered to the mailbox you attach it to. Each mailbox can have up to 30 aliases.
When to Use Aliases
Aliases are ideal when:
You want one inbox to receive mail for multiple role addresses (info@, support@, sales@, hello@).
You want different addresses for different uses but read them all in one place.
You want extra addresses without using more storage.
If each address needs its own inbox or owner, create separate mailboxes instead of aliases.
Before You Start: Domain Requirements
You can only create aliases on domains that are added and DNS-verified on your account. The domain dropdown for aliases only shows domains from your Domains page. If your domain is missing, go to Domains → Add Domain, enter the domain and follow the DNS instructions (MX + SPF), then wait until the domain shows as verified.
Step 1: Open the Email Accounts Page
Sign in at mail.ugmail.co and open Email Accounts from the sidebar. You'll see all mailboxes on your account.
Step 2: Choose or Create the Mailbox
Decide which mailbox should receive mail for the alias. If you need a new mailbox, click Create Account, choose a domain, set a username, quota, and password, then save.
Step 3: Open Edit Account
On the mailbox row you want to attach the alias to, click the 3-dot menu on the right, then click Edit Account. (You can also click Aliases in the same menu to jump straight to that section.)
Step 4: Add the Alias
Scroll to Email Aliases/Catch-All at the bottom of the form and click Add Alias. A new row appears with a Username field (the part before @) and a Domain dropdown. Click Add Alias again to add more (up to 30 per mailbox), then click Save. The alias is active immediately.
Step 5 (Optional): Set Up a Catch-All
A catch-all is an alias that receives all mail sent to any address on a domain, including addresses that don't exist. To create one, follow Steps 1–4, then tick the Catch-all checkbox instead of entering a username. Choose the domain and Save. All mail to *@yourdomain.com will now go to this mailbox.
Step 6 (Optional): Send From Your Aliases
Aliases receive mail by default. To send mail from an alias, add it as a sending identity in your mail client. In UGMail Webmail, choose the From address from the dropdown when composing. In Outlook, Apple Mail, or Thunderbird, add the alias as an additional identity using the same IMAP/SMTP settings as your main mailbox.
Common Questions
How many aliases can I have? Up to 30 aliases per mailbox. Aliases don't use extra storage and have no extra cost.
Can one alias deliver to multiple mailboxes? No. Each alias delivers to exactly one mailbox. If you need one address (e.g. support@) to reach several inboxes, use a forwarder instead.
Do aliases need their own passwords? No. You sign in with the main mailbox address and password; alias mail appears in that inbox.
Can I delete an alias? Yes. Open Edit Account for the mailbox, find the alias in Email Aliases/Catch-All, click the red remove button on that row, and Save.
