How to Top Up and Manage Your Wallet

How to top up your MasterID wallet using Mobile Money or card, view your balance, and understand transaction history — including pending and failed payments.

Written by Patrick Muwanguzi

Your MasterID wallet holds the credits used to pay for verification sessions. You must maintain a positive balance to run verifications.

Viewing Your Balance

Tap Wallet in the bottom navigation bar. Your current wallet balance is shown in UGX at the top of the screen. Below it, you'll see a full Transaction History showing every top-up and charge on your account.

How to Top Up

  1. Tap the + Top up Wallet button on the Wallet screen.

  2. Select a preset amount (20,000 / 50,000 / 100,000 / 250,000 UGX) or enter a custom amount in the field provided.

  3. Choose your payment method — Mobile Money or Card.

  4. For Mobile Money: enter your phone number and tap Pay UGX [amount] to initiate the payment. You will receive a mobile money prompt on your phone to confirm the transaction.

  5. For Card: enter your card details and complete the payment.

  6. Once the transaction is successful, your wallet balance is updated immediately.

If you see "The mobile money payment could not be started. Please try again," check that your phone number is correct, your mobile money account is active, and you have sufficient funds on your line. Then retry.

Transaction History

Every wallet transaction is recorded with:

  • Transaction ID

  • Date

  • Type — Top-up (money coming in) or Charge (verification cost deducted)

  • Amount in UGX

  • Status — Success, Pending, or Failed

Use the Search and Filter options to find specific transactions by date or type.

Transaction Statuses

  • Success (green) — the transaction completed successfully

  • Pending (orange) — the transaction is being processed. Mobile Money payments can take a moment to confirm.

  • Failed — the transaction did not complete. Retry or contact support if this persists.

Wallet Settings

Tap Wallet Settings on the Wallet screen to manage notification preferences, auto top-up rules, or other wallet configuration options.
